WCB Alberta is governed by WCB Policy and Workers Compensation Act Legislation.  Both can be accessed through WCB’s website.

Workers Edge, like the Appeals Commission Tribunal & Alberta Courts, use WCB Policy and Workers Compensation Act Legislation to determine Entitlement to benefits & services.

WCB Procedure: WCB Procedure is WCB’s own internal document outlining the procedure for WCB Staff (Adjudicators, Case Managers, Supervisors, Resolution Specialists, etc.) to follow.

Too many WCB staff rely too heavily on their WCB Procedure and ultimately make decisions of claim denial and dis-entitlement, which greatly effects Injured Workers in a negative way.

The WCB Procedure is only a tool that does well on simple / straight-forward claims, but should not be used at all for making decisions of claims acceptance or entitlement.
